Alina and Mal have been together since they were kids in the orphanage. Not once have they been separated for a long period of time. And they want to keep it that way. But when their regiment is sent to cross the Fold, Alina gets scared. Mal may not survive. She may not survive. When they enter the Fold, it all goes dark. Then they come. The monsters made of anger and hatred. Alina fights them as hard as she can, as they carry the passengers from the ship to their deaths. When Alina’s friend Alexei gets pulled from her grip, she becomes madder than before. But it’s not over, as the monsters try to drag Mal away Alina throws herself on top of him and unleashes a power, she didn’t even know she had. When they get back from the fold Alina is taken by the Darkling a mysterious and evil man trying to unleash the darkness from the fold on the whole world. Alina falls under the spell of the darkling as she learns to use her powers, but when she finds out that he has been intending to use her for his evil plans she decides to run away. Will she make it to freedom, or will the Darkling capture her again? And will she be reunited with Mal or will she never she him again?

This book is definitely a good read, and it is easily one of my favorites. The story is enticing, and it is really hard to put down. The author has written this book in a way that you feel as though you are in the story yourself. This is a beautiful book that is very interesting and makes it nearly impossible to forget anything about the story. I would say age 14 and up, and I am giving it 5/5😄.
