The Girl Who Disappeared

I would like to start sharing some of my stories on the blog as well, here is one that I wrote.

There was once a girl named Cathy. Cathy lived in a little cottage in the middle of the woods with her mom, dad, and dog named Pepper.

One day Cathy was out gathering kindling for the fire, in a little clearing not too far from the house. She looked up and saw a beautiful white deer. It almost looked like a ghost. She stared at it for a moment, she had never seen a deer much less any other animal that color.

They stayed there, staring at each other for what seemed like an hour.

Then the deer lifted its head and tilted it to the side, looked into the forest, back at her and then back to the forest. It was almost like the deer wanted Cathy to follow him. But before Cathy started walking towards the deer she realized that it was getting dark. So she turned and ran back to her house.

The next day she was out gathering berries when she saw the deer again. It tilted its head to look at the forest, looked back at her and back to the forest. Cathy got scared she felt her body moving towards the deer, but she didn’t want to, so she started fighting against the pull. Finally, she overpowered it and ran back to her house. When she got back, she explained to her parents what was happening. They said that she was probably imagining it. But she knew she wasn’t. The third day she was getting water from the well, when she saw it yet again. But this time the power was too much, she followed it into the forest. Unable to move, even scream. Eventually her parents went out to look for her as it was after nine o’clock. When they didn’t find her, they searched the woods, still they didn’t find her. After hours of looking, they returned home. It was a sleepless night. The next day they gathered search parties. The search parties looked for days and eventually gave up. Cathy was long gone by now. Her parents waited, hanging onto a small sliver of hope that she was still alive. But Cathy was never seen again.

Would you follow it?

Or run?
