When I close my eyes at night, I don’t see darkness.

I see rainbows of color, spiraling in and out of focus.

When I look at a flower, I don’t just see a plant.

I see a lifeline for bees and butterflies.

When I hear the sound of rain, it doesn’t sound quiet.

It sounds beautiful and loud, a cool sip of water for the plants and trees.

When I look at a dog, I don’t just see a animal.

I see a friend, who is there for you through thick and thin.

When I look at myself, I realize I’m not like other people.

I realize that I am me, the only me that will ever be.

And when I think about how every single person I meet, will be the only one of themselves forever,

It makes me smile, for I realize just how extraordinary life is.
